Personalised support to develop understanding and confidence

Numeracy and maths support is individually planned around each learner's strengths, areas of difficulty and personal learning goals.

Sutton Dyslexia Practice provides individual numeracy and maths tuition for children and young people, including learners with dyslexia and other SEND.

Teaching may focus on areas including number sense, place value, calculations, mathematical vocabulary, word problems, fractions, decimals and percentages, depending on the learner's individual needs and age.

Sessions are supportive and interactive, with concepts broken down into manageable steps. Practical resources and visual representations can be used to develop understanding before moving towards numbers, symbols and written methods.

How does numeracy and maths support work?

Teaching begins with understanding the individual learner and identifying appropriate priorities for support.

Where relevant information from school or a previous assessment is available, this can be used to help inform the teaching programme. Where needed, the first session may also include focused baseline activities to help identify an appropriate starting point.

Individual targets are established and sessions are planned around the learner's needs, with progress reviewed regularly so that teaching can be adapted as the learner develops.

Sessions are normally 60 minutes and are available:

• Online for children and young people across the UK

• Face-to-face at the learner's home in Sutton and surrounding areas, subject to availability

Fees

£60 per 60-minute numeracy and maths support session
